Galaxidi Galaxidi is located in the middle of the Corinthian gulf close to Delphi oracle and it was a big ship-building and shipping centre. The famous ships sailed for over a century, the Black sea, the Mediterranean and the Atlantic ocean. Every captain from Galaxidi ordered the “portrait “of his ship from a specialized painter. Out of 500 ships today are saved only 136 ship paintings and they are exhibited in Galaxidi museum.
The used techniques are:
- watercolour or mixed techniques watercolour plus tempera (glue- eraser or egg-tempera).
- We rarely meet oil-paintings.
My technique is watercolour (powder of pigment dissolved in a water soluble colic emulsion) on stuccoed wood.
